Toenail reconstruction – we rebuild the missing nail
Rebuilding the nail plate after an injury or procedure
Nail reconstruction rebuilds a missing section of the nail plate. We first assess the nail to check whether the procedure is suitable for its current condition.
How nail plate regeneration works
Reconstruction means rebuilding the missing part of the nail with a material that recreates its shape. The artificial plate looks like a nail, while your own nail quietly grows back. Toenails take a long time to regenerate, and a cover makes that time easier.
Part of the nail is missing after an injury
The nail cracked or came off after a knock. The sharp edge catches on socks, and in sandals the toe draws attention. Rebuilding the nail after an injury covers the spot and protects it from rubbing. If you see a dark patch under the nail, see our page on a bruised toenail.
We prepare the nail and recreate its shape
We assess the nail bed and what is left of the nail, then prepare the surface. Next, we apply nail prosthetics, meaning we build up material where the nail is missing. If the nail is thick, we start by working on it, as with thickened nails. Come once the skin has healed after the injury.
Your toe looks neat again
The rebuilt nail looks well cared for, so you can wear open shoes without feeling self-conscious. We tell you how to protect it day to day and how to trim it. At a follow-up visit we check how the reconstruction is holding and how your own nail is growing.
We work with real cases every day
Toenail reconstruction takes skill built up day by day, not just knowledge “from the textbook”. At our practice we correct changed nails and work on their appearance, so we see a wide range of cases.
We are clear about what reconstruction is. It is an aesthetic procedure: it covers the toe and improves how it looks, but it does not make your own nail grow faster. We answer your questions before we start.
How much toenail reconstruction costs
This is an approximate price. We confirm the final cost after looking at the toe and the nail.

What our clients say
Toenail reconstruction: questions before your visit
How long does a toenail reconstruction last?
There is no single answer. It depends on how fast your own nail grows and how much load the toe takes, for example when running or in tight shoes. Toenails take a long time to grow out, so after the procedure we tell you which signs mean the reconstruction needs attention.
What methods of nail reconstruction are there?
There are several, and they differ in the material and how it is applied. We decide which suits your toe only after assessing it, as the size of the missing area and the skin around it matter. Before the procedure we tell you what we will use and why, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Can I have a reconstruction if I have onycholysis?
Yes, but first we clean the detached part of the nail. Onycholysis is when the nail lifts away from the nail bed, and moisture easily collects under it. Only when the area is clean and dry do we decide whether and when to rebuild the nail. We plan the order of visits together with you.
Does toenail reconstruction hurt?
In the vast majority of cases the procedure is well tolerated. We prepare the surface of the nail gently and without rushing. If your toe is still sensitive after the injury, tell us at the start of the visit. We will then work more slowly and take breaks when you need them.
How much does reconstruction of one nail cost?
From 80 PLN per nail, and the procedure takes about 30 minutes. The price depends on how much work the particular toe needs. You will hear the exact amount after we assess the toe, before the rebuilding starts. If several nails need rebuilding, each one is priced separately.
